THE AGE CUTOFF DATE FOR THE 2025 SEASON HAS CHANGED - ALSO NEW AGE GROUPS ARE BEING INTRODUCED
The new age cut off date is August 1, 2024 instead of January 1, 2025. That means whatever your age is as July 31, 2024 will be the age group that you play in. This new age cut off rule is a new rule that has come from NFL Flag headquarters.
For example if your child turns 10 years old on July 31, 2024 then they would be in the 10U Division. However, if they turn 10 years old on August 1, 2024 or after then they would eligible to play in the 9U Age Group.

**Coed will now have all even and odd ages, no longer just even ages - Marion County NFL Flag reserves the right to combine age groups if there are not enough participants to build at least a 6 team division.
Marion County NFL Flag will no longer have a Recreation and Competitive League Split in each age group. Instead all teams will go back to a traditional draft process. Coaches may protect a maximum of 4 players prior to the combine. Once the combine is concluded you will draft the rest of your team at our draft night. We will allow 5 protected players in the 6U Division.
By expanding our age groups we will not be able to facilitate enough teams to facilitate a Recreation and Competitive League Split. However, we are still achieving the same objective considering when we looked at the data, the majority of the Recreation players were younger than the Competitive players. For example in the 10U Competitive Division the majority of the players were 10 year-olds while the majority of the 10U Recreation Players were 9 year-olds.
We also believe this will create a more fair and equitable opportunity across the board for our coaches and players to be able to compete for a league championship. It also gives every child a fair shake at potentially being selected for one of our Travel All Star teams if that is something that you aspire your child to be a part of. With our season now ending on February 23, our Travel teams will have a full month to prepare for the NFL Flag Regional Championships in addition to other tournaments. The coaches of All Star Travel Teams are handpicked by our Board of Directors. 17U Girls (High School Teams)
Our female teams are allowed to have an unlimited amount of protected players for the roster of 10 players maximum. Coaches of female teams would draft their remaining roster spots if they don't have an entire team protected. We are more lenient with the female division roster rules as that is division where current focus is to just grow it.
